Concept

Aphro-V1 is a room simulator effect based on an awesome group of presets. It can simulate easily all known sound spaces.

If Aphro-V1 stands out among effects of the same kind by the natural character and the quality of its sound, it is also different in the way control over reverberation effects can be managed.

Aphro-V1.5 multi user interface

Selecting preset

To select a preset (Meaning a predefined room, hall, concert hall, church...), click on the buttons on the right of the LCD. A preset contains a complete set of parameters defining the whole effect. They're classified according to reverb duration time, from shortest to longest.

Managing presets

A click on the LCD makes a dialog box appear which allows the user to see all the presets in the 4 different banks. On the first use, one bank only is available : the factory bank. However you can load other banks with a right click which will open a popup menu for managing banks and presets.

Modifying parameters

Under the LCD, 3 push buttons will allow the user to open 3 dialog boxes and then set 3 parameter groups. Also these 3 windows will show you the current value of the parameters (for the current preset if you prefer).

Setting Gains & pre-delay

The PGi button opens a window where you can set the level of the original sound (DRY : direct field) and the level of the reverberation effect (WET : reverberated field) and also the pre-delay (the time before the effect can be heard).

Channels Link or not ?

The user interface of Aphro-V1 allows the user to modify parameters channel by channel or both at the same time. The « CHANNELS LINK » Push button helps you decide if you want to modify parameters for both channels, separately or simultaneously.

Keep parameters when changing preset

It is possible to keep all buttons settings when switching presets. Just right click on the GUI's background to open a popup menu allowing you to select which parameters you want to keep.

Change the frequency response

The CPi Dialog box allows the user to change the colour of the reverberation effect thanks to 5+1 two-dimension control panels.
The first one is a simple LP/HP filter called DEADENING
(this filter features a constant gain, so the user may adjust the gain with the WET gain of the PGi Dialog Box).

ACi Dialog Box (the creative interface)

This user interface provides 3 early reflections and a decay to indirectly adjust the texture and the length of the reverberation.
All personal modifications depend on which kind of preset is used. The possibilities of this Dialog Box are awesome and allow control over the algorithm with large accuracy.

3 Parameters for each filter.

All the filters in this Dialog Box are the same but they are not inserted at the same place in the global reverb algorithm.
Early reflections are in the first filters of the processing, so that the modifications may remain discrete, even if the parameters modification range is important. The Decay is easier to hear because it is placed near the output of the effect.

Boost the low end of the effect.

A lot of tricks can be done through this interface, (e.g. use Early Ref. as a multiTap, Triple Lap, or multi Comb Filter). One of the most interesting ones in Aphro V1 consists in using the decay as a bass-boost control.
Keep the delay set to 0 and increase the feedback gain and maybe the damping gain too.
