Aphro-V1.5 main user interface

Concept

Aphro-V1.5 adds new user controls to Aphro-V1 reverb. Aphro-V1.5 can replace the old Aphro-V1 without any problem, your presets and your projects remain fully compatible.

Aphro-V1.5 now includes a L/R Mix, 3 global controls (size, time, damping) and 2 parametric EQs via CPi Dialog Box.

Aphro-V1.5 multi user interface

L/R Mix

Aphro-V1 implements a fully channel-independent algorithm thus applying a different reverberation on left and right channels. This allows to keep the stereo image but it's sometimes not in harmony with a real reverberation effect. If a sound is on the left you may want to hear the reverberation on the left side and on the right side as well...
That's why there is now a L/R Mix control.

Room Size

This control allows you to reduce or increase the room size from 50% to 200%. You must keep in mind that the reverb time remains constant when changing this room-size parameter. That's why there is a time knob, to let you adapt the reverb time to the Room size, and find the best setting to get realistic or unrealistic reverb effects (a bathroom with a "hall" type reverb time for example).
In the real world, when moving walls closer and closer, some bad resonance and special color might appear, but it’s pretty well in harmony with a realistic feeling. A true reverberation does not always mean a good sounding reverb. Be sure that some rooms have a really bad sound when playing drums, guitar or trumpet in.

Reverb Time

This knob deals directly with reverberation rate and allows you to decrease or increase reverb time from 50% to 200%.
This parameter may be modified without adjusting room size. In Aphro or in the real world, it is easier to create more or less reverberation in a room than to modify the size by moving walls.

Damping

This last knob of the main graphic user interface provides a way to control the damping behaviour over time, reflection after reflection.
However, the depth of this parameter will depend on the initial preset.

New CPi

Now the CPi dialog box implements 2 parametric EQs on left and right channels.
If the original CPi let you modify the frequency response of the input signal (before reverberation algorithm) the two new EQs let you change the frequency response of the output signal (after the reveberation). This allows you to give colouring to your reverb in a more efficient way, but it also enables you to correct the frequency response by removing bad resonance.
